Course Description
For students pursuing majors in Dance, Music, or Theatre, and for other students interested in developing skills in dance movement styles for musical theatre. Covers style and technique in preparation for Dixie State University musical theatre productions, and can include tap and character dance. Taught in a structured studio setting. Repeatable up to 4 credits subject to graduation restrictions. SP.

Course Objectives

  1. Explore the expressive potential of the body, and develop the coordination of a moving body.
  2. Use the body as an expressive instrument.
  3. Move with intellectual and kinesthetic understanding.
  4. Appreciate the complexity and joy of freedom of movement as expressed through musical theater.
