Course Description
A beginning Pointe technique course for students with an emphasis in dance and for all students interested in developing Pointe skills. This class introduces the fundamentals of Pointe work through strengthening and articulation of the feet. Students who successfully complete this course will have beginning Pointe technique skills and be able to execute a simple variation en Pointe. Prerequisite: Dance 2100/3100 or instructor permission.

Course Objectives

  1. Learn beginning ballet exercises en pointe with correct technique and alignment.
  2. Appreciate the history, difficulty, and beauty of dancing en pointe.
  3. Learn beginning combinations and phrases as performance experience.
  4. Appreciate the complexity, joy, and beauty of movement as expressed through pointe.
