DANC 2500R, Jazz Dance II

Course Description
For students with an emphasis in dance, and for students with basic jazz dance training and interested in developing more advanced technique in jazz dance. A continuation of DANCE 1500. The course is designed to teach more difficult combinations and introduce different styles of jazz dance. Prerequisite: Dance 1500 or instructor permission.

Course Objectives

  1. Develop a deeper understanding of mechanical and physiological body movement.
  2. Improve coordination and condition of the body in strength, endurance, and flexibility through jazz dance technique.
  3. Learn intermediate movement phrases and combinations in different styles of jazz including lyrical, contemporary, Broadway, and/or classical jazz.
  4. Experience and appreciate the rhythmic and stylistic artistry of jazz dance.
