Sara Pfeifle Gallo holds an MFA degree in Dance: Choreography and Performance from California State University Long Beach and a BFA degree in Dance from the University of Montana. While living in Missoula, Montana she worked with the Mo-trans Dance Company as both a performer and a teacher for master classes and artist residencies while on tour. After leaving Montana, Gallo spent several years in the San Francisco Bay Area teaching, choreographing, and performing professionally with Kelly Kemp & Company, Leyya Tawil’s Dance Elixir, and Aura Fischbeck Dance. While pursuing her graduate degree, she had the pleasure of dancing with Southern California based choreographers Cyrus Parker-Jeannette, Keith Johnson, and Holly Johnston. Gallo’s own work has been presented in concerts and festivals in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, and numerous other cities throughout the Western United
States. Additionally, she has choreographed dances for the American Ballet Theater’s Summer Intensive Program and AMDA Los Angeles. Her research includes somatics, dance improvisation, and phenomenological inquiry in dance performance. She has presented at the Utah Dance Education Organization Conference and the Eastwest Shin Somatics Conference, and holds Level 2 Certification in Shin Somatics. Gallo currently serves as Dance Program Co-Director at Dixie State University in St. George, UT. As full time faculty, she also regularly teaches technique, theory, and creative based courses, and works with various DSU Dance Program performance groups.
